Elbowing their way to the top
The mighty Elbow have shown their dominance again by going straight into the album chart at number one.
Their latest, The Take Off And Landing Of Everything stormed to the top, with Ellie Goudling remaining at two with Halycon Days and Beyoncè rising to number three, with her recent run of concerts at the O2 obviously still fresh in the mind of many.
Last weeks topper, The Wagon Wheel Show by Nathan Carter dropped to six. Whilst the highest new entry came from Paloma Faith with her latest A Perfect Contradiction which came in at number eight.
Other notable new entries were Metronomy with their latest Love Letters coming in at 12, and Keith Hanley’s Hush at 17.
Meanwhile in the heady heights of the singles chart, the top three remain unchanged. Pharrell rules the roost again with ‘Happy’, Academy bound Clean Bandit are at two with ‘Rather Be’ and Katy Perry completes the trilogy with ‘Dark Horse’
The highest newbie in the singles was Enrique Iglesias with ‘I’m A Freak’ coming in at four. Kylie Minogue also gets a mention as he arrives with ‘Into The Blue’ at nine.
Notable is a big fall for Lily Allen’s ‘Air Baloon’ which fell from eight to 29, obviously a little deflated, and ‘Everything Is Awesome’ by Tegan and Sara had a tumble from 16 to 39.
