It’s with extreme sadness that we report the closure of one of Dublin’s premier record shops, Elastic Witch.
The store’s owner and operator Gib Cassidy announced over Facebook this afternoon that in coming weeks Elastic Witch will cease to operate out off Abbey Street’s Twisted Pepper. Since opening for business nearly 3 years ago the shop has been an indispensable resource for both small Irish bands looking for a retail outlet for their output and obscure and experimental music fans looking to procure physical copies of their favourite artist’s latest product.
Though the shop as we know it will shortly cease to be Cassidy assures us that Elastic Witch “the brand” remain operational to some extent. Be it in the guise of a label of some description or as a smaller, pop-up retail enterprise. Only time will tell.
Elastic Witch will be having a send-off of sorts in the Twisted Pepper on International Record Store (April 19) featuring a host of live acts to be announced in the coming weeks.

We here at Hot Press wish Gib and all those who helped him out over the last 3 years all the best with their future ventures.
