"I needed a lot of makeup for my appearances on Other Voices in Derry, it had been a hard night the night before."
William Doyle, AKA East India Youth, joined us in the Speakeasy to talk about how his first album was hatched in his bedroom and about working with Brian Eno.
On recording his first album at home he admitted that he loved the comfort of "being able to create your own little world." There were drawbacks however, "The walls were so thin that you couldn't turn up the speakers to mix it. I had to stand behind a wall to gauge the bass levels!"
Telling us about getting to work with Brian Eno, Doyle said,"It doesn't get better than that for me. He's non-stop interesting full of creative ideas".
Asked about the 'Yes' referendum, East India Youth said, "We were in America while the Conservatives got voted back into power, so it was nice to see something that reinvigorated your faith in people."
East India Youth plays the Live Live Stage at 8.30pm tonight.
