Eye On the Horizon
Aging dubsters back with a vengeance
After a four-year hiatus, legendary dub/dancehall/ragga act Dreadzone are back with their sixth LP Eye On The Horizon, and it’s as imaginative and innovative as anything in their 17-year career. The most striking thing about the record is that despite the band members being in their 40s, the songs still sound fresh and new. They’re not afraid to mix things up genre-wise either, giving us pop hooks (‘Changes’) and dirty basslines (‘Tomorrow Never Comes’) with an enthusiasm of musicians half their age. Two decades on and Dreadzone are still as musically and politically relevant as ever. Respect.
