Don't Hurry For Heaven
Worthy but oh-So-Dull outing from Canadian folkie
Born and raised in a hippy commune in Ontario, Devon Sproule is one of the many nu-country acoustic guitar toting singer/songwriters to emerge in recent years and her fifth effort Don’t Hurry For Heaven offers nothing new to the ever eternal scene. Preaching “healthy parents and honest living” (‘Healthy Parents, Happy Couple’) this slab of Americana veers from bluegrass to jazz but rarely threatens to excite us in any way. In fact the record is a depressingly middle of the road affair and we predict that Sproule will inevitably make ten more just like this one over the next two decades.
Key Track: ‘Bowling Green’
