David Holmes has whet our appetites with some pre-release album tracks on MySpace.
If the thought of having to wait until September 8 for the new David Holmes album is too agonising, fear not, because four songs from The Holy Pictures have appeared on the newly launched www.myspace.com/davidholmesofficial.
They include the Jesus & Mary Chain worshipping title-track; understated piano ballad ‘Hey Maggy’; ‘I Heard Wonders’, which features Suicide’s Martin Rev; and the blissed-out ‘Kill Her With Kindness’.
Designed to be listened to at home rather than monged out of your head in a club, its other standouts include ‘Story Of The Ink’, ‘Melanie’ and ‘The Ballad Of Jack And Sarah’ – the couple in question being his parents.
In addition to Martin Rev, there’s also input from Leo Abrahams who previously collaborated with the Ulsterman on the Code 46 soundtrack and Londoner Jon Hopkins who co-produced Coldplay’s Viva La Vida album.
Talking of soundtracks, Holmes is currently working on the scores for Oliver Hirschbiegel’s 5 Minutes Of Heaven, and Cherrybomb which is being assembled by his pals Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa.
