Tribute will be well and truly paid to the great man in January!
The second Dublin Bowie Festival takes place from January 5-10 with Vicar St., The George, Whelan’s, The Grand Social, The Workman’s, The Sugar Club, The Mercantile, The Liquor Rooms and Opium among the participating venues.
Launched last year to coincide with the Jones boy’s 69th birthday, the event assumed an entirely different resonance when just hours after the final celebratory gig the news broke that Bowie had passed away.
Highlights include a Q+A with the Irish playwright, Enda Walsh, who co-authored the Lazarus stage show with Bowie followed by a screening of the cult film it’s based on, The Man Who Fell To Earth.
Sunday sees Rebel Rebel taking over Vicar St. on what would have been his 70th birthday, with a vigil taking place outside The Grand Social on the Tuesday to mark his anniversary.
Supported by Failte Ireland, it promises to be a memorable and moving affair.
