The new issue of Hot Press, out tomorrow, is something of an Irish rugby special with Jamie Heaslip, Robbie Henshaw and Dave Kearney all looking forward to the massive Six Nations and World Cup year ahead.
Mr. Kearney was in such chatty form we couldn’t quite squeeze in his musical musings, so here they are as a hot press.com web special!
“There’s no ghetto-blaster in the dressing-room with either Leinster or Ireland,” he tells us over a beer in the Bridge 1859 bar he co-owns with the bro and some of his other teammates. “Everyone just sticks on their own iPod. Sometimes I’ll be in the mood to listen to softer mellow chill-out music, other times I’ll go for hip hop and R&B. I really like Drake, Ed Sheeran - he was amazing the other night in the 3Arena - and James Vincent McMorrow, and went to Longitude to see Ben Howard who’s unreal as well.
“I won’t say which of the lads has the worst taste in music, but Devin Toner’s big into his heavy metal, which wouldn’t be my thing. Rhys Ruddock’s a bit of an ally in that he also likes hip hop and R&B and goes to quite a few gigs.”
