One of cinema's most iconic villains is coming back.
It has been confirmed that Darth Vader will appear in the upcoming Stars Wars prequel, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Entertainment Weekly have reported that the original Sith Lord's return has been confirmed on the cover of their new issue.
While Vader himself does not appear on the cover photos of cast members and props such as space ships and a looming death star do appear. A small block of text reads "34 years before The Force Awakens, a new band of heroes fights the Dark Side - and an old foe..... Darth Vader is back!".
It has also been confirmed that the character's original voice actor, James Earl Jones, is back. The 85 year old actor recently voiced the character in the animated spin off series Star Wars: Rebels.
While it has been confirmed that Vader will appear in the prequel, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy has given fans a warning. She said, "he will be in the movie sparingly. But at a key, strategic moment, he’s going to loom large".
The plot of Rogue One revolves around a group of runt of the litter rebel fighters attempting to steal the plans for the planet destroying Deathstar space ship, seen in the original trilogy. It was however recently reported that Disney were unhappy with an early edit of the movie and ordered a large number of reshoots. Rogue One will be released on December 16th, 2016.
