Damien Rice and Christy Moore have collaborated on a new single, 'Lonely Soldiers', which will benefit the Irish Anti-War Movement
Not content with appearing at this weekend's When Bush Comes To Shove concert in The Point, Damien Rice and Christy Moore have recorded a single together, ‘Lonely Soldiers’, which will benefit the Irish Anti-War Movement.
"This was a spontaneous last minute decision," Rice reveals. "I contacted Christy, sang him the song over the phone, we recorded it the next day, mixed it the next, and sent it off for manufacturing the next."
Due through Damien’s own DRM label on the day of the gig, the Lisa Hanigan, Tomo and Shane Fitzsimons-assisted tune includes such choice couplets as: "Lonely soldier go home/lonely but never alone/good eyes see nothing to shoot/good feet feel good givin’ up good boots", and "She died with her hands stretched out/she died with a hungry mouth/she died with a mind full of doubt/and thoughts of weakening."
The single is only available for a limited period, so no procrastinating!
Meanwhile, tickets are still on sale for the When Bush Comes To Shove gig which takes place this Saturday, June 19.
