Bloodstreams
Antipodean duo craft blood-thirsty debut
Bloodstreams is the debut from Aussie thrash pop duo DZ Deathrays and it’s an absolute must-listen for anyone who’s compelled by the power of the riff. Full of Stooges-esque swagger (‘Gebbie Street’), snotty vocals (‘Teenage Kickstarts’) and primal rock ‘n’ roll (‘Dinomight’), the album skillfully treads that tightrope between cliché and classic and is a neck-bothering joy to hear. Co-produced by PVT’s Richard Pike, Bloodstreams is at its best when going for the jugular, and while they may currently be lauded by the press as a rock band for people who know fuck-all about rock music, don’t let that put you off: ‘Debt Death’ is just one of the tracks which prove that they really do mean it, maaaannnn!
