Colette Fitzpatrick To Leave Newstalk

Popular broadcaster Colette Fitzpatrick is stepping down from her radio gig at Newstalk and will be taking up a new role at TV3 in March, it was announced last night.

Colette has co-presented the Newstalk Breakfast show with Paul Williams, Alan Quinlan and Shane Coleman. But she is now returning full-time to TV3 as their Senior News Anchor to do the station's news bulletins at 12.30pm and 5.30pm from Monday to Fridays.

“I would like to thank Colette for her commitment and professionalism while working with us," CEO of Newstalk, Tim Collins said in a statement last night. "The Newstalk Breakfast Show has made a fantastic start, as shown in the recent JNLR figures, and I am confident that Paul, Shane, Alan, Vincent and the team will continue to build the show over the coming months.”

Colette, who was also a co-host with Pat Kenny on his show 'Kenny Tonight', said she really enjoyed her time at the station and would miss it. "I have loved working in Newstalk for the past 18 months and making the decision to leave this station was very difficult," she said. "I would like to thank Shane, Paul, Alan, Vincent and the entire team for their support and I wish the show the very best in the future."

TV3 said in a statement: “As part of TV3’s new 3-channel strategy, the news output is undergoing a major revamp, and today it was announced that Colette Fitzpatrick will be the new Senior Anchor, presenting TV3’s flagship news bulletins at 12.30pm and 5.30pm each week day.

“Previously Colette presented three news bulletins a week and was co-presenter on Pat Kenny Tonight. Colette will resume a full- time new role exclusive to TV3 in March, 2017."

TV3 also added: "3News Ireland launched on January 9th as Ireland’s leading independent television news service, providing news across TV3 group channels: TV3, 3e and be3.”
