The Canadian has apologised for his copyright infringement claims in relation to 'Take Me To Church'
Chilly Gonzales has issued a statement in relation to the claims he made last week about Hozier's 'Take Me To Church'.
Talking on his Pop Music Masterclass show which airs every week on German radio station WDR1, the Canadian singer accused his Irish counterpart of borrowing a little too liberally from Feist's earlier track 'How Come You Never Go There' - a charge strenuously denied by Hozier's manager Caroline Downey who described it as "groundless" and which Gonazales has now withdrawn.
"I would like to fully retract any and all implication of copyright infringement in last week’s Pop Music Masterclass and sincerely apologize to Hozier whose work I respect," he says of his remarkable diatribe. The offending episode of Pop Music Masterclass was quickly removed from YouTube after going viral. Whether that statement brings the matter to a conclusion remains to be seen.
