Annie Leibovitz shoots The Sopranos, while Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver prepare to scam their way across American primetime.
While the past year has seen Hollywood become increasingly infatuated with Boston’s Irish mafia, Caught In The Net still prefers its organised crime families to be Italian and in possession of an NJ zip-code.
As you may already have glimpsed in Music News, America’s Vanity Fair style bible has exhumed Ade, Pussy and Tony Blundetto for their April special on The Sopranos, which commences its seventh and, sob, final season next month.
Shot by veteran rock snapper Annie Leibovitz, the session is also available in motion picture form at www.vanityfair.com.
Meanwhile, abclocal.go.com/kgo/story?section=entertainment&id=5106804 has details of somebody who’s been brave/stupid enough to stand up to Tony and the boys.
“The mayor of Bloomfield, New Jersey has denied the producers of HBO’s The Sopranos a permit to film in their town,” it reports. “The mayor, whose wife is Italian, says: ‘I don’t think The Sopranos depicts the life of a typical Italian-American in a positive way, and I still don’t like the way people see New Jersey based upon The Sopranos.’”
What, they’re not all fat, homophobic and prepared if necessary to saw your body up in the bath?
Joining The Sopranos on US primetime are Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver who co-star in a drama series about “travelling con artists who assume the identity of an upper-class Louisianan couple who’ve been killed in car crash.”
Despite being in possession of an even dodgier American accent than Hugh Laurie, Izzard has already been mentioned by USA Today as a possible Emmy nominee.

If you’ve €700,000 lying around from your SSIA, that’s precisely what Star Trek fanatic Tony Alleyne wants for the North London studio apartment he’s converted into a replica Starship Voyager. It all started when Alleyne’s wife left him – now, why doesn’t that surprise us? – and he decided to create the ultimate bachelor pad.
