Due to what the organizers describe as “unavoidable circumstances”, the 'Drop Haiti's Debt' gig planned for Thursday February 11 in Vicar Street has been cancelled.
The Hot Press Newsdesk, 10 Feb 2010
A full refund for tickets purchased is available from the point of purchase.
On a more positive note, at the G7 summit in Canada last weekend, world leaders indicated they are prepared to drop Haiti's debt in its entirety in the near future.
Full information on the status of Haiti's debt will be posted on trocaire.org shortly.

Led by a troop of ominous violinists, 'Army Of Tears' is an eerie, militant aria with more than a hint of Kate Bush oddity. Ms. Davey, you've outdone yourself. Buy.

When Cathy Davey's acclaimed third album The Nameless shot to the number one spot in the Irish mainstream and indie charts last month, it marked not just a triumphant return for an artist who'd been dropped by EMI after her critically lauded and commercially successful Tales Of Silversleeve, but a new dawn for independent Irish acts in general. But behind the writing of that album was enough guilt and grief to start a new religion. Here, in her most in-depth and revealing interview to date, Davey talks about how Zen helped her put mind and body back together after her grandmother's death, why daytime radio doesn't serve the people, organised religion is poisonous and modern medicine means we live too long. Oh, and why Crystal Swing just aren't funny. At all.

If anyone else tried to base a folk song on the age-old story of Little Red Riding Hood, I might be inclined to blow their house right down (whoops... wrong fairytale), but quirk factory Cathy Davey has managed to do the wolf proud. Boasting twee lyrics, gently whooping vocals and jangley production that rings of '70s-era Temptations, 'Little Red' is a veritable Motown folktale.
