Hell hath no fury, etc...
After ten years in the business of writing lyrics about her personal life, and publicly disclosing details about her exes, you could say Taylor Swift had it coming.
Following a messy breakup with Swift after a 15 months relationship, Scottish DJ Calvin Harris released a song ‘My Way’ on Thursday, in which he clearly throws a cold light on his ex. The continuously repeated catchphrase; "You were the one thing in my way", is doubtlessly aimed at Taylor, the hugely popular singer-songwriter. But considering her enormous fan base, was that really a good idea Harris?
Is this a warranted taste of her own medicine? Perhaps, but other lyrics such as “I made my move and it was all about you, now I feel so far removed” and calling her “two faced” seem to serve a harsh blow. On top of a chaotic breakup six months ago, a very public fight broke out between the two as Swift claimed she co-wrote the lyrics to the song ‘This Is What You Came For’, while Harris refused to give her credit.
And this new release makes it crystal clear that the fire between them is still roaring. The storm will surely pass, but in the meantime we could see a few more barbed shots between the pair.
