The Irish model-turned-actress is up for Best Actress in a TV Series
It's not just big-screen success that has seen Irish names on the shortlist for the Golden Globes, this year. Her role in the highly regarded Outlander has landed the gorgeous and hugely talented Caitriona Balfe a nomination.
The Dublin-born actress, who previously made a name as a highly successful catwalk model, is up for Best Actress in a TV series. She plays Claire Beauchamp in the historical fantasy show, which is based on the hit book series by Diana Gabaldon.
Balfe made her film debut in The Devil Wears Prada, in 2006. She plays Diane Lester in the upcoming Jodie Foster-directed Money Monster, which is scheduled for 2016 release. The film, which will further raise Balfe's Hollywood profile, sees her star alongside George Clooney, Julie Roberts, Jack O'Connell and Dominic West, and was made on a budget of $30 million.
A former alumnus of the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama in Dublin, Caitriona has previously won the Best Actress on Television gong at the Saturn Awards and – also in 2014 – was voted Woman of the Year, in the BBC America Anglophenia Fan Awards.
For us, she is a winner already! Fingers crossed...
