Lost Trails is out on April 1... honest!
Having already been available on iTunes, Butterfly Explosion’s Lost Trails album makes it into record stores nationwide on April 1.
Along with an official launch party in Whelan’s two nights later, the Dublin outfit are also visiting the Roisin Dubh, Galway (9) and Crane Lane, Cork (10).
The collection has already made its mark in the States where, on the back of a short tour that included a SXSW stop-off, Lost Trails has risen to number 138 on the CMJ 200 college radio chart.

A five-track EP that showcases this Dublin quintet’s ability to mix post-Coldplay sop-rock with more sonic, shoegaze/post-rockin’ leanings – and it’s at its best when the latter come to the fore. Three songs hit home in a big way: lead track ‘Sophia’ evokes Low at their narcotic finest, while ‘Carpark’ is a powerful instrumental; awash with noise and brimming with melancholy. On ‘Chemistry’ the group develop more of a swagger, incorporating some of Spiritualized’s drone-rocking tendencies, without losing their undercurrent of bulging sadness.
