Bressie, Declan O'Rourke, Bell X1's Paul Noonan, Professor James Lucey, RTE's Dave McCullagh and Hot Press' Olaf Tyaransen are just some of the personalities involved in 'Co-Motion' – a special musical event happening in St Stephen’s Green next Sunday as part of the First Fortnight Festival.
Co-Motion aims to bring people together and have a shared experience listening to the songs that get them through," explains organiser Una Begley. "We often walk around alone with our earphones in, oblivious to the world and other people. The idea is for people to connect with one another again and remind them that talking to others about their feelings, opinions and attitudes is always an option and can be a very positive experience.
"Our celebrity ambassadors have compiled short playlists of the songs that get them through, and we will then pair them with another participant - taking two people, two playlists, and a pair of headphone splitters. As the participants walk together around the Green, they will share a moving musical experience of the songs that get them through."
First Fortnight is a charity-based organisation with the expressed aim of challenging mental health prejudice through the creative arts, and is run entirely by volunteers. They aim to make the First Fortnight of each year synonymous with mental health awareness, challenging prejudice and ending stigma. This year's festival takes place from 2-14 January.
