RTÉ's Concert Orchestra are back in the studio recording Patrick Cassidy's score for Calvary...
RTÉ's Concert Orchestra are back in the studio this morning to record Patrick Cassidy’s music for John Michael McDonagh’s latest film Calvary.
Following on from the success of 2011s The Guard, the eagerly awaited new McDonagh film stars Brendan Gleeson, this time as a priest in a role described as the flipside to Sergeant Gerry Boyle.
The score came together after Mayo-born Cassidy, whose credits to date include Hannibal, Veronica Guerin, Salem’s Lot, King Arthur, Layer Cake, Che Guevara, Ashes and Snow, L'Aviatore and Kingdom of Heaven was approached by a music supervisor in the US who told him that McDonagh wanted him to write the music. The composer and director talked by phone, then met face to face at the end of the summer to discuss the project and what was needed.
