Rising acts you should be keeping an eye and ear on
Brass Phantoms [photographed above by Olga Kuzmenko] .are an indie–rock outfit of post–punk persuasions.
Boasting an eclectic mix of musical inspirations, ranging from Joy Division to The Killers, the foursome first found their feet when the lead singer and guitarists’ secondary school band broke–up. This led them to start an entirely new group with a fresh perspective.
The follow–up to Brass Phantom’s eponymous debut EP, City Of Wolves will harness the same ’70s–style energy as its predecessor, but will delve a lot deeper and darker lyrically, according to frontman Ryan. Talking about the inspiration behind this new direction, Ryan mentions that one of the tracks takes its tone from slasher–movie American Psycho, “We’re really pushing the boundaries of darkness”, he laughs.
A Dublin collective through and through, all of Brass Phantom’s members hail from north of the Liffey, while the band’s forthcoming album was recorded at Westland Studios in Dublin in a mere three days. “It’s very hard not to be inspired by a lot of the stuff that’s in Dublin”, Ryan enthuses.
Gigging is nothing new to the band; they’ve played extensively all over the country and have Sunsets Festival and Guinness Amplify performances under their belt, as well as headlining shows at Dublin’s Workman’s and Whelan’s.

What’s keeping the boys busy at the moment is the making of a video for the track ‘City Of Wolves’, which will surface in the coming weeks.
