Bord na Mona, one of Ireland’s most iconic brands and a sustainability sponsor at Body&Soul, has just announced the full line-up for OurLand at the Woodland Stage on June 24th and 25th 2017.
A line-up of some of Ireland’s best and brightest creative talent including illustrators, Oscar nominated animators, musicians and makers and doers will focus on celebrating the natural world around us, against the backdrop of Ireland’s most sustainable festival.
Set in the forest area, OurLand’s daytime activities will take place across three stages; Positive Energy, Earth and Air Stage, open from noon to early evening each day allowing festival goers to wander in and get creative.
Celebrating the Bord Na Mona belief that nothing in nature should be overlooked or wasted, the OurLand Area will be a hub for hands-on creativity where festival go-ers are invited to get involved in activities - from creating “unstruments” from everyday materials to taking part in the Festival of Flight, in the Forest.
SATURDAY @ OurLand
Kick start your festival weekend with positive vibes and enjoy yoga with Sinead O’Connor, before getting creative with Steve McCarthy and Steve Simpson at the Positive Energy Stage.
Festival goers can step into the world of virtual reality with immersive VR Projects and Character Trails hosted by illustrator Chris Haughton. The MakeSpace workshops incorporate art with a difference and will see festival goers transforming raw materials into colourful artist fabrics, papers and much more for MakeSpace Prepare.
Attendees are then invited to re-join the MakeSpace Make each afternoon as we turn the labours of love and creativity into real living artworks. From kites and paper airplanes to animal origami and pinwheels, attendees are encouraged to bring their creations from the space out into the festival, where we host a Festival of Flight and install the art into the forest.
Day One also sees printmaker Gillian Henderson and Morgan take to the Air Stage for MakeSpace Make workshop with fabric stenciling, painting and kite making. There you’ll also get to experience Making Stuff to Make Music with Rod Morris and Giant Illustrations with renowned illustrator and graphic designer Steve Simpson.
While Steve Doogan and Chris Haughton take to the Earth Stage for daytime creativity workshops. A special screening of Song of The Sea hosted by twice academy award nominated animators Cartoon Saloon brings Saturday to a close on the Earth Stage.
Donal Dineen closes day one of OurLand on the Positive Energy Stage with Forest Sounds.
Sunday @ OurLand
Illustrator Fuschia Macaree and Cork based graphic art duo The Project Twins, James and Michael Fitzgerald kick off day two on the Earth Stage. You’ll find yoga and mindfulness sessions on the Positive Energy Stage from noon with workshops and screenings throughout the day hosted by Cartoon Saloon, Naturama and Oscar nominated graphic designer, Annie Atkins.
The Air Stage will host a unique Make Music with Unstruments hands-on workshop with Rod Morris and sounds of the Unique Orchestra. An intimate screening of Academy Award nominated ‘The Secret of Kells’ hosted by Cartoon Saloon closes out OurLand on the Earth Stage.
