Dylan is laying down tracks in Capitol Records and they sound “great” according to his long-time engineer Al Schmidtt
Bob Dylan is already back in the studio recording a follow-up album to his 2015 critically acclaimed Shadows in the Night, his engineer Al Schmidtt has confirmed.
Schmidtt, who engineered the Shadows album as well says that Dylan’s progress at Capitol Records is going full steam ahead. The album will be a compilation of covers as was his last album, although whether these will also be Frank Sinatra inspired remains to be seen.
The musical engineer is an admirer of Dylan’s intelligence, “He’s extraordinarily smart”. This is high praise indeed coming from a 23 time Grammy winner.
He added: ''It's going along great. He sounds great. His mood in the studio is fabulous. We're having a good time. We're like two old shoes together now, we're so comfortable with one another now.''
Fans of the 74-year-old singer will have to wait to find out if this album will follow in the footsteps of Shadows and be a live studio recording of Dylan with his five-piece band.
