Blondie and Dandy Warhols are among the acts who'll play Ireland this July as part of the Galway Arts Festival.
New wave legends Blondie are to perform at the Big Top at this year’s Galway Arts Festival on July 24. With this year being the 30th anniversary of the classic Parallel Lines, you can expect to hear plenty of material from that landmark album, including ‘Heart Of Glass’, ‘One Way Or Another’ and ‘Hanging On The Telephone’. The Big Top will also feature a mouthwatering double bill on July 25, when it hosts The Dandy Warhols and Ash.
In addition to hits such ‘Bohemian Like You’ and ‘We Used To Be Friends’, the Oregonian art-rockers will also be giving an airing to tracks from their new opus, …Earth To The Dandy Warhols…, which was produced by frontman Courtney Taylor-Taylor.
As previously announced on hotpress.com, you can also anticipate a characteristically blistering set from Ash, who recently revealed they will play a special gig at the London Roundhouse on September 5, where they will focus on b-sides and classic tracks, as well as performing 1977 in its entirety.

There is another double-header at the Big Top on July 23 with performances from recent Hot Press cover star Tom Baxter and KT Tunstall. Tracks from Baxter’s Irish No. 1 album Skybound will no doubt go down a storm, while Tunstall’s folk-pop stylings are sure to provide the perfect stylistic complement. Throw in a residency for Australian collective Circa (whose show combines spectacular light-work with music from the likes of MUM, Leonard Cohen and DJ Shadow) from July 14-20, and a show by Cuban singer Omara Portundo (who featured in Wim Wenders’ film Buena Vista Social Club) on July 20, and the Festival Big Top has a truly mouthwatering line-up on offer.
The program for this year’s Galway Arts Festival (which takes place from July 14-27) will be available from June 4 on galwayartsfestival.com
