Mayim Bialik and Jim Parsons discuss the fate of the characters' relationships
[SPOILER ALERT] Everyone’s favourite nerdy comedy series has taken an unexpected turn with characters Sheldon and Amy’ breaking up.
Amy, who is played by Mayim Bialik, and Jim Parsons, who appears as Sheldon, both spoke to E! News about the fictional relationship split.
Bialik believes that if her character were to date, then there are two possible routes to go in. “Some people think we should go super hunky, really against type from what Sheldon is and from what we think of Amy, but part of me also feels like it’s OK to keep it a little bit real in that someone like Amy probably would pursue someone – not that attractive people can’t be intellectual – but pursue someone in her field, who generally speaking, might not be that concerned with appearance,” said Bialik.
According to Bialik, there are also talks of Parsons’ character being matched with a woman who has a similar personality to the series’ beautiful and light-hearted Penny.
Parsons weighed in on this prediction. “I don’t know who I would pick for Sheldon. I feel like on the one hand I would love something like the contrast of a Penny type I think that would be really good for laughs and comedy,” he explained. “But, as the person who plays Amy that would be hard too. I like that on our show we do show other female scientists besides Amy, and we show different kinds of female scientists.”
Fans can look forward to the sitcom, which airs on the RTÉ Two network on Tuesdays at 7:30 PM.
