The Oscar winning director of 2012 hit Argo will direct and have a starring role in a solo Batman film in association with DC Comics

While Affleck is set to star as the Caped Crusader in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice in March 2016, he has reportedly finished writing the script for a stand-alone Batman movie along with Geoff Johns of DC Comics.

This news comes after the announcement earlier this week that Affleck and actress wife, Jennifer Garner are due to divorce following rumours of cheating on Affleck's part.

Affleck will attend the Comic-Con this weekend in San Diego to promote Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
