The synth-pop pair will lead the Saturday night party
Anyone who was shaking a leg to 2 Unlimited, or clenching their fists to Bonnie Tyler, will know how much fun Electric Ireland inject into proceedings at Electric Picnic – and their first act announcement for the upcoming festival hints that their sterling record is set to continue.
Leading the #ThrowbackParty on the Saturday night will be Bananarama, the synth-pop pair whose tunes including 'Cruel Summer', 'Venus' and 'Love in the First Degree' made them one of the hottest properties of the '80s.
Sara Dallin and Keren Woodward of the band have said in a statement: “We are so excited to play Electric Picnic for the first time where we’ll take to the stage at Electric Ireland’s Throwback Party. We haven’t played in Ireland for a long time and have really missed playing to an Irish crowd.”
There'll be more acts announced before things swing into action, but we're looking forward to a bit of cheesy dad-dancing already...
