Tim Wheeler has been talking about the new Ash album, which looks like emerging in 2007.
“We haven’t actually started recording it yet, but we found a studio in New York after I randomly ran into a friend of a friend on the street who turned out to be selling the lease to his studio,” Wheeler reveals. “So we bought the lease and have got it for three years. It’s a great base to have. “We’re working on 27 rough songs at the moment, they’re all arranged and sounding good. I’ve still got to write most of my lyrics, though. We’re planning on producing the record ourselves and we’ve become very proficient with software like Pro Tools, so there might be a more experimental approach.”
While Tim and Mark Hamilton are now fully-fledged Noo Yawk residents, Rick McMurray will be commuting to the studio…from Scotland!
“He flies back and forth whenever we need him,” Wheeler explains. “Rick was a bit concerned about us setting up over here, but there’s direct flights from Edinburgh.”
