It was an emotional moment last night when Ariana Grande returned to the stage in Manchester to pay a moving tribute to the 22 people who tragically lost their lives following the terrorist attack at her recent concert in the city.
After performing a duet of Crowded House's 'Don't Dream It's Over' with Miley Cyrus at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground, Ariana Grande said: "Before we go any further I want to thank you from the bottom of heart. I want to thank you for coming together and being so loving and strong and unifying. I think that the kind of love and unity you’re displaying is the medicine the world needs right now So I want to thank you for being just that."
Ariana Grande then told the audience this moving story: "I want to also say, I had to the pleasure of meeting Olivia’s [Campbell, a 15-year-old fan who lost her life during the terror attack] mommy who told me to stop crying because Olivia wouldn’t have wanted to me to cry. Then she told me that Olivia would have wanted to hear the hits."
The stellar line-up for the concert included the likes of Liam Gallagher, Niall Horan, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, and Take That. In a video clip played to the 50,000 plus audience, David Beckham had this to say: "As a father what happened made me truly sad and it's a day we'll never forget. I'm proud of everyone there today, everyone in the crowd and all the artists."
One Direction star Niall Horan had the audience in tears with his new song 'This Town'. He said: "Seeing you guys coming together was a sight to behold, we love you, we are with you, the whole world is watching."
So far, including the reported £2million from last night's concert, a total of £10million has been raised for the victims of the horrific bombing on 22 May.
