Twitter has been abuzz with rumours of a secret Arctic Monkeys gig in Glasgow at TRNSMT Festival, but Domino Records says otherwise.
Twitter user Absolute Anthems have had their detective work cut out for them as of late, trying to figure out whether Arctic Monkeys were plotting a comeback appearance at this weekend's TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow. The tweets claimed that a suspiciously short set planned for Kasabian meant that Arctic Monkeys would be hitting the stage after Kasabian instead.
“Arctic Monkeys rumoured to be making their reunion at TRNSMT Festival in Glasgow, Scotland this Saturday,” the account posted definitively. "On Saturday 8th July 2017, Kasabian will finish their set at 22:50. Alex Turner and his band are expected make a ‘surprise’ return at 23:00. The band will perform for around 45-50 minutes on the main stage in Glasgow Green.”
However, there wasn't much proof of this. Those over at Absolute Anthems claimed that friends who were volunteering at the event had seen signs branded with "AM" and a drum kit that may or may not have been duct-taped with the name of the band.
Finally, Domino Records responded to NME saying, “There are no plans for Arctic Monkeys to be in Scotland at the weekend.” TRNSMT also confirmed that the festival must come to an end at 11pm, and as Kasabian's set goes until 10:50pm, Arctic Monkeys would have to be quick to make that curfew.
Still, on the bright side, Arctic Monkeys seem to be at work on a new album, going off this picture Matt Helders posted on instagram in May. More news to come, hopefully soon...
