The ‘only Irish headlining show’ bit was telling! In addition to their top of the bill Live At The Marquee turn on June 30, Pixies have just confirmed they’re opening on June 29 in Marlay Park for – drum roll! – Arcade Fire.
Irish fans have been waiting a while for Arcade Fire to announce some dates on this side of the pond in support of their recently released fourth album Reflektor. The wait is finally over, and it seems to have been well worth it.
The Canadian band will play the Dublin venue on June 29 with support coming from alternative rock legends Pixies, who will be playing their own headline gig at Cork’s Live at the Marquee the following night. The announcement was made via-Pixies Twitter page.
Arcade Fire recently caused a stir when they asked fans to come to their shows dressed in formal attire but following some backlash from fans the band released a statement stressing that the dress code was “super not mandatory”.
As for the Pixies, A Perfect Circle, ZWAN and The Entrance Band's Paz Lenchantin has been confirmed as the touring replacement for Kim Shattuck who's been forcibly repatriated to The Muffs.
“We are really looking forward to playing with her on these dates,” enthuses Dave Lovering. “Working with different bass-players is very new for the band, but we’re having a great time doing it.”
