Visions in Sonic Sense
Dublin's own produce another album of nu-reggae and trip hop tunes that can make you believe in the Irish reggae sound.
Proving that reggae music is not just for tossers, Dublin-based Analogue Mindfield’s album carries on from where their sophomore effort left off by giving us a fresh take on an old sound. Blending ambient, trip hop and drum and bass, the band are an inventive bunch. Album opener ‘Anna Be Careful’ is a pumping nu-reggae anthem, soon to be the stoner’s song of choice, ‘A Downbeat Rebel’ is full of odd samples and jazzy trumpets, and ‘Mediocracy’ is the type of tune the late great Joe Strummer would’ve raved on about ad infinitum. All in all, it’s a welcome surprise.
