The reboot is happening and now we know exactly when!
MGM and Warner Bros have announced that Lara Croft will be back raiding tombs on March 16, 2018.
Things have been moving quite swiftly since it was revealed that a Tomb Raider reboot was coming to cinemas. It was announced back in April that Swedish actress, Alicia Vikander would step into the boots formally occupied by Angelia Jolie as she brings to life the adventures of Lara Croft.
Based on the video game launched in 1996, Tomb Raider has since gone on to sell over 45 million copies. Riding on the back of opportunity, Paramount Pictures released two Lara Croft films in 2001 and 2003 starring the aforementioned Jolie as the heroine. Although Tomb Raider didn't receive the greatest appraisal from critics, it did make quite the impact in box-office figures.
MGM and Warner Bros are hoping that this Tomb Raider with Oscar-winning Vikander will be the one to break the video game to film curse. Shooting is expected to carry out rolling by the end of this year. The film's plot will follow a young and untested Croft embarking on her first mission.
Now you have it, you can pencil in the date for March 16, 2018.
