The stand-up won't be returning to his lunchtime show on Monday...
Today FM have issued a brief statement this evening stating that Al Porter is taking ‘personal time’ away from his weekday show on the national broadcaster.
“In light of recent events, Today FM and Al Porter have agreed that Al will take some personal time from his lunchtime radio show,” we're told.
Yesterday, the word from Marconi House was: “Today FM has spoken with Al Porter and his management team concerning these allegations. We take any comments of this nature extremely seriously. Likewise, we take the welfare of our presenters and staff extremely seriously. Today FM is not commenting any further at this time.”
Porter, who’s been the subject of allegations in the Irish edition of the UK The Times and on social media, has yet to comment on the situation.
Whether this impacts on his upcoming pantomime run in the Dublin Olympia, and stewardship of TV3's Blind Date reboot remains to be seen.
