But covering Bob Dylan is fine!
Adele kicked off the North American leg of her tour yesterday at a sold-out St. Paul, Minnesota show.
The singer played a 135-minute set, which included a three-song encore. She opened with the 25 smash 'Hello' and poured on the hits from there.
She covered 'Make You Feel My Love' in tribute to Bob Dylan, whose home state is Minnesota.
She also paid tribute to Prince by playing part of his 'The Most Beautiful Girl In the World' video at the start of her encore. However, the singer admitted she did not feel comfortable covering the icon, saying, "I did maybe consider covering a song, but fuck it, it's Prince".
Adele said she thought the song's lyrics concerned sex and fetishes, before becoming a beautiful love song. Though her staff suggested editing the lyrics, Adele argued:"We can't edit Prince in his own hometown." And she, in the end, is the boss!
