It's a second consecutive win for the London lass.
Adele's third studio album 25 smashed records, sold millions worldwide and it's not done with winning awards just yet as she was crowned 'Songwriter of the Year' today at the 61st Ivor Novello Awards.
The songstress wasn't on hand to receive her award as she's currently in Germany touring with the winning album. "Thank you so much, I won on my last album as well so to win on this one is a dream, " The Grammy award winner gushed, "I was secretly pregnant then so I couldn't enjoy the night as well. But cheers, bottoms up, enjoy."
The esteemed awards night recognises the most influential songwriters and composers in Ireland and the U.K. The divine Villagers walked away winners with the 'Album Award' their third album Darling Arithmetic. The lads beat off stiff competition from Gaz Coombes and Jamie xx in taking home this prestigious accolade. James Bay's 'Hold Back The River' earned him a Novello for being the most played single on broadcast media, live and online in 2015.
'Wasn't Expecting That' crooner Jamie Lawson beat his mentor Ed Sheeran to the post as he won in the Best Song Musically and Lyrically category over Sheeran's 'Bloodstream'. Lawson was overwhelmed when accepting his Novello and thanked the man who gave him his platform; "I wouldn't be here at all without a 24-year-old ginger kid who decided to sign me to his record label and put this song out into the world," Lawson admitted "I get messages from people all around the world for this song, saying how much it means to them, how much it affected them so I'd like to dedicate it to them. It's an honour to sing it."
