One of the many admirable things about Adele is that she is a straight-talker. At the O2 in London last night, she was in particularly direct form...
Is Adele too ‘boring’ to play Glastonbury? Or is her music ‘inappropriate’ for an event which is seen as a rock festival? It is the kind of argument that is almost as old as the festival itself. Indeed, back in 2008, Noel Gallagher famously slated the idea of a hip hop artist like Jay-Z headlining the event.
Well, Adele is having none of it.
Onstage at the O2 in London last night, Adele responded to the accusations that she was unworthy of a Glasto headlining slot by telling naysayers to "shut up”. And you know what: Hot Press is with her all the way!
The 27-year-old graduate of the BRIT School of the Performing Arts has been confirmed as the headline act for the Saturday night of the legendary festival at Worthy Farm, in Somerset, on June 25. Adele had recently revealed that she has wanted to play the iconic festival for some time now.
Inevitably, some intending revellers have expressed their disappointment at the announcement, on the basis that the singer is "too boring" to take to the main stage. In response, the Tottenham-raised star has told them, metaphorically speaking, to take a running jump at themselves.

"I'm actually more excited than I was now,” she told fans act the London show, "because of all those rock and punk fans have been having a moan that I'm doing it and I'm like: 'You're going to get dragged along by your wife, so just deal with it'.
"To be honest, those people moaning about it, I've probably been more times than them anyway, so shut up."
Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis tweeted her support for Adele on this weekend, following the announcement that Adele would grace the festival's Pyramid Stage on the Saturday night.
"I wanted to do it last year but my record wasn't ready," she said, according to NME. "And to the people who say I am too boring to headline, you're more fucking boring for moaning about me headlining."
