Norwegian hitmaking trio A-ha have decided to pack it in, mere months after scoring a top 10 hit album in the UK charts!
The band will undertake a farewell tour before the split. No dates for the tour have yet been confirmed, apart from the final date in Oslo on December 4.
In a statement issued by the band they said, "We've literally lived the ultimate boy's adventure tale”. They also claimed that the split would allow them to pursue "other meaningful aspects of life, be it humanitarian work, politics, or whatever else."
The Norwegian band had their biggest successes with ‘The Sun Always Shines On TV’ and ‘Take On Me’, their success making frontman Morten Harket an international teen pin-up. In 1991 the band broke a world record when 196,000 paid to attend one of their concerts at the Maracana Stadium in Rio de Janeiro.
A-Ha’s last album Foot Of The Mountain, released earlier this year, saw them return to their synth-pop roots after a spell during which they opted for more soppy guitar ballads. That album charted at number five in the UK.
